Harold Rowland

Mr. Harold Rowland, age 97, of Sand Lake, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. Harold grew up in Sand Lake, and never moved more than ΒΌ mile from where his parents, Ira and Ida Rowland farmed. Besides being a farmer all his life, he also worked at Doehler Jarvis. Harold originally started with dairy cattle, but later raised beef cattle. He also bred and raised horses, work which he really enjoyed. Harold was a forthright gentleman; and when his wife, Henrietta died on August 17, 1999, this made a huge impact on his life. He is survived by his children; Larry and Cynthia Rowland of Comstock Park; grandchildren, Michael and Tamara Rowland, Daniel and Sarah Rowland, Angela and Trent Elliott-Lewis, Heather Elliott, Melissa and Adam Bell; 8 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brother, Lloyd Rowland; sister, Mrs. Erma Thompson; nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was also preceded in death by his sons, Harold Leroy, Jr. and Harvey Lyn. The service for Mr. Rowland was Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Pederson Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Wilson officiating. Interment in Pierson Cemetery. Relatives and friends met with the family from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
