David L. Heiss, 87 of Cedar Springs died Thursday, November 5, 2009. David was born October 18, 1922 in Lowell, MI the son of David and Ella (Tompkins) Heiss. He was a veteran of World War II serving in Europe in the 72nd Anti Aircraft Company and under the command of General Patton in the Third and Seventh Armies. Surviving are 4 daughters, Esther & Orville Hoag of Grand Rapids, Wanda Jean & Don Resler of Sand Lake, Ruth Ann & Gary Hagen of Cedar Springs, Janet Tiffany & Jerry Hamp of Lake Odessa, formerly of Kent City; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 5 stepchildren, Darlene & Buddy Sieloff, Jerry & Teddy Snyder, Fred Hambrock, Johnny & Kim Hambrock, Donny & Gerri Hambrock; many step grandchildren and great grandchildren; 1 brother, Arnold Heiss of Grant; special nephew, Ronnie Atwood. He was preceded in death by his wives, Ethel and Jarda; 4 sons, Dale, David, Bruce, and Steven Heiss; 2 daughters, Susan Heiss and Diana Frens, grandson, Darcey Raymond, Jr. The family received friends Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009 at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, www.blisswitterspike.com where services were held Monday. Pastor Mary Ivanov officiating. Interment Crandall Cemetery, Ensley Township.
