Mr. Eldan Slater, age 77, of Cedar Springs, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 27, 2009. Eldan is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; children, Ellene and Doug Trumbull, Catherine and Jim Zoerman, Howard and Nancy Slater, Barbara Nelson, Eric Slater, Kenneth and Sherri Slater, Michael and Robin Burns, Ed and Wendy Burns, Wayne and Beth Adams; 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Eugene and Joyce Slater; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven of his brothers and sisters. The Service of Praise and Thanksgiving for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ for Mr. Slater was held on Friday, October 30, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Cedar Springs, 233 S. Main St., Cedar Springs, MI, with Pastor James Howard, Pastor Lee Taylor, and Pastor Clifford Owens officiating. Military honors will be under the auspices of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard with interment in Algoma Township Cemetery.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Pine Ridge Bible Camp, 8415 17 Mile, NE, Cedar Springs, MI 49319. Relatives and friends met with the family at the Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe St., Rockford, MI 49341, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday.
