Walter E. Ridout

Walter Edward Ridout age 69 of Cedar Springs died at home Saturday September 12, 2009. He was born in Grand Rapids on July 22, 1940 the son of Albert W. and Nettie Frijman Ridout and was retired from Steelcase with 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Navy, a member of East Nelson United Methodist Church where he was active with the prayer shawl ministry and also a lay speaker. He also was a Red Cross blood donor for many years. He married Mary Baumgras in Grand Rapids on August 25, 1973. He is survived by his wife Mary, his son Timothy Walter Ridout, Grand Rapids, his daughter Mariel A. (Mark) Maitland, Fruitport, grandchildren, Liana Lynn Maitland and Ian Zane Maitland, brothers; David (Kathy) Ridout, Grand Rapids and Albert (Connie) Ridout , Cedar Springs, Mary’s family; Janina (David) Lewkowski, Grand Rapids, Carl (Jan) Baumgras, Cedar Springs, David (Jan) Baumgras, Midland, Julie (Max) Northouse, Grand Rapids, Edward (Jeanette) Baumgras, Troy and Lisa (Larry) Hansen, Dorr. Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2009 at 10 AM from the East Nelson United Methodist Church with Rev. Herb VanderBilt officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 AM Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to East Nelson United Methodist Church Building Fund.
