Mrs. Geraldine Van Liew, age 92, of Grand Rapids and formerly of Cedar Springs, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 10, 2009. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cedar Springs. Her church and family were her full time commitment. For 27 years she worked at Meijers as a meat wrapper, retiring in 1980. She was a loving, caring, hardworking lady. She is survived by her children, Beverly and Jean Rainville, Sue and Arthur Rosenberger, Sharon and James Bowers, Robert and Marilyn Van Liew, Carol and David DeHaan, Michael and Jill Van Liew; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sharon Van Liew; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Lois Larson, Mrs. Lorraine (Charles) Wood; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband J. Stuart Van Liew in 1965, a son, Gerald in 2004, grandson, Stuart Van Liew in 1997, and her brothers, O.J., Elwood, and Carl Larson. The Service of Praise and Thanksgiving for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ for Mrs. Van Liew was Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Cedar Springs with Pastor James Howard officiating. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider First Baptist Church of Cedar Springs. Relatives and friends gathered from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church on Saturday.
